and water seems the best bet, but again, the idea of touching things and then your nose and your mouth. we all do this subconsciously a couple hundred times a day. you have to pay more attention to that because that's one of the more common ways to get sick. >> if you do come down with it or think you come down with it, what do you do? is there treatment, do you take antibiotics? >> that's the thing. antibiotics are for bacterial infections. this is a viral infection. there are antibiotics out there. but the big problem with this is people become dehydrated. so as hard as it is, you have to keep as much fluids down as you can. this is particularly true for the elderly. there are hundreds of people who die from this every year, and usually it's from dehydration. unfortunately, there's no particular medication. try to get as many fluids down as you can and stay home so you're not infecting other people. one thing i'll point out, you start to become contagious before you get sick. so you have to assume you're always potentially contagious and act accordingly. >> you, now that we've completely

you. >> you bet. >>> we've got another piece of news. there was another piece of legislation discussed in the house last night. but unlike the fiscal cliff, there was no vote on this. despite pleas for bipartisan support for this -- from a bipartisan group, the session was adjourned, and the current term of congress will end without having a vote on superstorm sandy aid. that was something that people were looking for. >> this is absolutely indefensible. the fact is every bit of documentation that was required by the leadership of the house was provided by governor cuomo, governor christie, merritt blob, everybody played -- mayor bloomberg, everybody played by the rules except tonight. indefensible. we have a moral obligation. the people are out of their homes, the people who are cold, the people without food, the people who have lost their jobs, they don't have the time to wait. we cannot just walk away from our responsibilities. >> and the senate had passed a $60.4 billion sandy disaster aid bill last week. the current session comes to an end today after the new congress gets sworn i

, you can bet the issue will be revisited in 2014 when every house republican holding a storm-damaged district will be attacked for the delay. and the northeast will again be the first place the democrats will look to in their efforts to find vulnerable gop targets. susan, do you think that that's true, that a road map is being provided now to the democratic party for what's to come in the midterm? >> absolutely. when the republicans had a majority in the senate and how they built their majority in the house, it was through the northeast and they lost two seats in new hampshire in this last election. they lost a senate seat in massachusetts, lost a senate seat in maine, and they can't keep majorities or build a majority in the senate unless they open up a little bit more. look, the democrats did this out west. they ran pro-gun democrats out best because they knew that was the only way they could get seats out there. you can't be that doctrine and get and keep your seats. >>> on the day the children wept back to sandy hook the newspaper that published the names and addresses of

on changing washington. alex, your colleague wrote that he's betting that his brand will transcend politics. how does that work? >> well, i think what he's trying to say is he's telling these individual members that, hey, look, i know you're nervous about supporting something like gun control, but you have me on your side, you know, i'm the most popular politician in washington right now. and my popularity can help you. i think sometimes the problems come in. for some of these congressmen and senators particularly those up for reelection in 2014, you know, they're representing states like arkansas or alaska where the president isn't necessarily that popular. so those sort of assurances don't mean as much as you might think. particularly if it was someone up for re-election in se new york. so, you know, we're going to have to see whether or not anything actually changes from his first term. i agree, i mean, the president has been -- you saw it in his press conference earlier this week. you know, he's incredibly confident in his message is, basically, look, i won the election. a lot of these

, will not have a good negotiating partner. i would bet that they not go forward with that. if they are convinced -- those who want to use the debt ceiling as a tool to bring change that they want, if they realize for sure that they are not on to have a negotiating partner, they will have to find another route to bring their change. the only way they get leverage is when they think we might negotiate on this issues. it is very sad 2011 when that happened, and i think there's a strong consensus not to repeat what i would call, what most of us would regard, as a mistake. ok, thank you, everybody.
